Amihan to bring light rains over Luzon, Eastern Visayas – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon or “amihan” is expected to bring light rains over parts of Luzon and Eastern Visayas, the state weather bureau said.

In its weather bulletin early Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said cloudy skies with scattered rains will prevail over the Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora and Quezon due to the northeast monsoon.

The northeast monsoon will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Eastern Visayas.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are also expected over the Davao Region and Soccsksargen due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), Pagasa added.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy skies to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

The state weather bureau said Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon, as well as Eastern Visayas, will have strong northeast wind and rough (2.8 to 4.5 meters) coastal waters.

The rest of the country meanwhile will have moderate to strong northeast wind and moderate to rough (1.2 to 3.4 meters) coastal waters.
