Free concert at Rizal Park on Dec. 30
A free outdoor concert featuring a symphony orchestra and theatrical performers from the José Rizal University will be held at Rizal Park to mark the 123rd anniversary of the martyrdom of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal on Monday.
The National Parks Development Committee, an attached agency of the Department of Tourism, said on its Facebook page that the “Harana Para Kay Rizal” concert will be staged at the central section of the park beginning 4 p.m. on Monday with the Rizal National Monument as the backdrop.
Hosted by historian Xiao Chua, the concert features one of Asia’s first symphony orchestra and one of the country’s most active musical institutions, the Manila Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of maestro Jeffrey Solares. Park-goers will also be serenaded by the Teatro Rizal from José Rizal University under the supervision of Ephraim-Jay Villafania. —JEROME ANING
