MANILA, Philippines — A policeman assigned to Police Station 3 (Talipapa) of the Quezon City Police District tested positive for marijuana use after a recent drug test conducted as part of the “internal cleansing program” of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
According to a report from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Tuesday, a random drug test was conducted on 20 personnel of the said police station on December 18.
Results of the drug test forwarded to Talipapa police on Monday showed Cpl. Jake Donato of the Tactical Motorized Rider team tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol, an active ingredient of marijuana.
He tested negative for the use of crystal meth or shabu.
Police said Donato was given 15 days to contest the results of the drug test.
“Likewise, as part of the administrative investigation being conducted by this station (PS-3), he was placed under restrictive custody and ordered to turn over all his issued PNP property for safekeeping to the supply officer,” said the NCRPO report.
The QCPD – District Investigation and Detective Management Division was also notified for the recommendation of summary hearing proceedings for an administrative case against the policeman.
