Watch what you eat and drink, public urged amid lambanog poisoning in Laguna, Quezon

MANILA, Philippines—Malacañang on Monday expressed alarm over the reported cases of lambanog poisoning in the provinces of Laguna and Quezon and reminded the public to be more prudent with what they eat and drink this Christmas season.

“We remind the public that they should always check whether their alcohol purchases or any product that they consume for that matter, have been registered or approved by the Food and Drug Administration,” presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a statement.

“Prudence dictates that we should always be mindful of what we ingest, particularly during this is time of merrymaking,” he added.

Authorities have already reported 11 deaths due to lambanog poisoning in Laguna and Quezon.

More than 300 individuals were also hospitalized.
