MANILA, Philippines — An alleged high-value drug target was gunned down by unidentified assailants in Hinigaran town, Negros Occidental, police said Friday.
Jomarie Tejada, 35, had just alighted from his vehicle along Hinigaran National Highway in Barangay Anahaw at about 6:25 p.m. Thursday when he was shot several times.
He was brought to Hinigaran Medical Clinic but was declared dead on arrival.
In its initial report, the local police described him as a high-value target and an alleged member of the Ramos drug group operating in the area.
Police said Tejada was believed to be one of the killers of the gang and involved in a series of robbery hold-up incidents victimizing lending collectors in Hinigaran and Cauayan towns.
