Suspect in cop’s slay caught
MANILA, Philippines — The Navotas police announced on Tuesday that the eighth most wanted man in the city had been arrested.
Four years after he allegedly murdered a police officer during an armed encounter, Arnel Perolina was arrested in Pototan town, Iloilo by Navotas police officers on Dec. 12.
The 39-year-old suspect was facing arrest warrants for frustrated murder, attempted murder, illegal possession of firearms and possession of illegal drugs.
Based on police records, Perolina shot and killed Pat. Julius Mendoza on April 13, 2015 in Navotas City.
As a result, Judge Zaldy Docena of the Malabon City Regional Trial Court Branch 170 ordered the suspect arrested for frustrated murder.
Perolina also attacked other police officers responding to the incident, which led to the filing of attempted murder charges against him.
