FFW welcomes nonextension of ML in Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines — The Federation of Free Workers (FFW) on Wednesday said the nonextension of martial law in Mindanao would help remove any doubt among potential investors about setting up shop there.
“It means the coming of jobs as a result of the removal of fear of terror, the boosting of tourism and new investments coming to Mindanao,” FFW president Sonny Matula said.
President Rodrigo Duterte declared martial law in Mindanao in 2017 after the Maute terrorist group’s siege of Marawi City.
Congress thrice extended the declaration which is set to expire on Dec. 31. —Jovic Yee
