MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Bureau of Immigration (BI) are closely coordinating with their Chinese counterparts to identify the Chinese nationals allegedly involved in criminal activities, including kidnapping, so they can be deported.
DOJ Undersecretary Markk Perete, who has supervision over the BI, is also coordinating with the Office of the Police Attache (CPA) in monitoring the movements of known personalities from China involved in criminal operations.
The move is triggered by the December 9 incident in Makati where a Chinese woman was abducted.
“Our Bureau of Immigration has a standing arrangement with the PNP-Anti-Kidnapping Group for the identification of those involved in kidnapping operations, and their exclusion or deportation if warranted,” Perete, also the DOJ spokesperson said.
Earlier, the PNP-AKG admitted that the number of kidnapped Chinese nationals has increased by 71 percent from 2018 to 2019. It said from 34 victims last year, the number jumped to 58 from January to November this year.
