Truckload of pigs overturns on NLEx
MANILA, Philippines—A six-wheel truck carrying pigs to market caused a brief vehicular buildup on the North Luzon Expressway shortly past noon Friday after two of its rear tires blew and caused it to turn on its side, blocking at least two lanes. No one was reported injured.
According to Liezl Bartido, NLEx traffic control specialist, Zaldy Gabriel lost control of his vehicle after his right rear tires burst. The cause of the blowup was not immediately ascertained.
Bartido said that the truck was on the southbound lane approaching the Valenzuela exit on its way to Cainta, Rizal, when the accident happened.
Some of the pigs fell out of the overturned truck but did not wander too far a way and were quickly herded back.
Bartido said the truck slightly damaged a Honda Civic.
“The Honda Civic was on Lane 2 and the truck on Lane 3. When the driver of the car saw that the truck was turning on its side, it transferred to Lane 1, but the truck, as it fell, still touched the car’s bumper and caused scratches,” Bartido said.
