Strong waves cancel fast crafts from Ormoc to Cebu
TACLOBAN CITY –– Fast crafts bound for Cebu from Ormoc City, Leyte, were canceled on Friday afternoon due to strong waves.
Apprentice Seaman Tom Kevin Garcia of the Coast Guard based in Ormoc City, however, could not say how many passengers were stranded after 2GoSuper Cat and Ocean Jet suspended their trips to Cebu.
“The suspension was mainly due to the big waves,” Garcia said in a mobile phone interview.
He declined to give other details on the cancellation of the trips.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration is monitoring the movement of a storm (international name: Kammuri) that might enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Saturday evening to Sunday morning.
Once it enters the PAR, the storm would be called “Tisoy,” which was expected to hit Luzon and the Visayas.
