MANILA, Philippines — Individuals who already purchased tickets for the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games will no longer be entitled to a refund, an official of the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) Foundation Inc. said Friday.
Ramon Suzara, chief operating officer of Phisgoc, said they would give “premiums” to those who already bought their tickets but not a refund.
“There’s no refund. We’ll put them in the best location because they bought the tickets already. I cannot blame them because they bought the tickets earlier online,” Suzara said in a press conference.
“Maybe we’ll give them free ice cream or free donuts as a premium but no smoking,” he added.
Suzara also assured that they had been addressing the early problems experienced by the athletes. He also vowed that the opening ceremony of the SEA Games on Saturday, November 30, at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan would be “memorable and historic.”
Earlier, Phisgoc chair and Speaker Alan Cayetano earlier announced that upon the instruction of President Rodrigo Duterte, at least 10,000 tickets for certain sports events and the closing ceremony of the biennial regional sports competition would be given away for free through local government units.
