Comelec deactivates 265,084 overseas voters

/ 03:11 AM November 27, 2019

MANILA, Philippines — Over 265,000 overseas absentee voters have recently been deactivated by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for failing to vote in two consecutive national elections.

This was on top of the 313,101 registered overseas workers whose right to vote was deactivated by the poll body as announced on Nov. 8.

But the poll body urged those deactivated to register anew, saying that the overseas voter registration for the May 2022 polls will start on Dec. 16 and will run until Sept. 30, 2021. —TINA G. SANTOS
