Comelec accepts Cardema’s bid to withdraw as youth nominee

03:10 AM November 27, 2019

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc has accepted Duterte Youth chair Ronald Cardema’s bid to withdraw his nomination as the party’s first nominee.

This developed as Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon lambasted the House of Representatives for issuing House Resolution No. 552, which urged the poll body to resolve posthaste the pending cases involving the Duterte Youth and Senior Citizens party lists.

In her Twitter account, Guanzon said the House resolution “encroaches on our independence as a constitutional commission.” —TINA G. SANTOS
