2 soldiers wounded in clash with NPA in Isabela

GAMU, Isabela—Two Army soldiers were wounded after a clash with members of New People’s Army (NPA) in Benito Soliven town on Monday.

Lt. Col. Gladius Calilan, 95th Infantry Battalion commander, said the soldiers were scouring the village of Ara for a routine military operation when at least 20 NPA rebels engaged them in a 30-minute gun battle.

Calilan said the Army seized firearms, ammunition and rebel documents from the clash site.

The Army claimed some of the rebels were wounded as soldiers reported seeing bloodstains where the rebels had been positioned. Villamor Visaya Jr.
