TACLOBAN CITY –– Bad weather spawned by the tail-end of a cold front has resulted in the cancellation of classes from pre-school to high school in both public and private schools in the city on Tuesday.
The class suspension aims to ensure the safety of the students, said city disaster risk reduction management officer Idelbrando Bernadas.
City Mayor Alfred Romualdez issued Executive Order 19-11-179, suspending classes both in public and private schools, except for college.
Bernadas said the city was projected to experience heavy rains that could last at least four hours.
Heavy rains have been experienced across the city since Monday night.
Classes in some public schools located within the city proper have been suspended since Monday as the classrooms are being used as billeting centers for the participants of the week-long Regional Press Conference.
