Leyte village chief nabbed for drugs

ORMOC CITY, Philippines  – Police on Saturday arrested a village chief of one of the coastal barangays (villages) in Abuyog town, Leyte for allegedly selling illegal drugs.

Beinvinido Tijano Lozada Jr., 43, a village chief of Bahay, Abuyog town in Leyte, was accused of selling shabu amounting to P1,000 to an undercover police officer who posed as buyer in the bust.

Operatives of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Leyte Provincial Police Office and the Municipal Drug Enforcement Team also recovered five sachets of shabu worth P5,000 from the suspect.

The suspect declined to issue any statement to the media.

Charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, particularly for selling and possession of illegal drugs, are now being readied against the suspect.
