Fourth diocese bars healing priest Suarez from officiating Mass

/ 04:00 AM November 24, 2019

“Healing priest” Fernando Suarez has been barred from officiating Masses and other sacraments in the Diocese of Cubao until cases allegedly lodged against him are cleared, according to Cubao Bishop Honesto Ongtioco.

The bishop did not explain the nature of the charges against Suarez. It was the fourth time Suarez was prohibited by a diocese from celebrating healing Masses and other activities purportedly because Suarez had no permission, called “celebret,” from diocesan authorities.

Aside from Ongtioco, former Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Oscar Cruz also banned Suarez in 2008, the late Bishop Jose Oliveros also barred him from Malolos while Bishop Jose Cabantan prohibited him from doing healing activities in the Diocese of Malaybalay last month.—JOVIC YEE
