MANILA, Philippines — Senate President Vicente Sotto III on Saturday said Vice President Leni Robredo was appointed as the co-chair of the Inter-Agency Council on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD) just for her to witness the extent of the country’s drug problem.

“Sa pagkakaalam ko kay Presidente, gusto niya makita yung extent ng problema. Kaya ka in-appoint para makita mo firsthand [As what I have learned from the President, he just wanted Robredo to see the extent of the problem. You were appointed to see the drug problem firsthand],”Sotto said over DWIZ when asked why President Rodrigo Duterte could not trust Robredo.

“It doesn’t mean na ginagawa kitang drug czar [I already appointed you as anti-drug czar],” Sotto added.

Previously, Duterte said Robredo will not become part of his Cabinet after the latter began coordinating with countries who are critical of the government’s war on drugs.

Sotto said Robredo should study her job description as co-chair of the ICAD following Duterte’s distrust.

“Maganda muna pag-aralan yung job description. Ang kilos lampas dun sa gusto mangyari kaya siguro ganun yung sinabi ng Malacañang,” Sotto said.

(It’s better for her to review her job description. Her works did not match her job description, maybe that is why Duterte said those things.)
