Couple dies as wayward car hits them in Occidental Mindoro
SAN PEDRO CITY — A village watchman and his wife died after a car hit them in Sablayan town in Occidental Mindoro province on Saturday morning.
Lt. Col. Imelda Tolentino, spokesperson of the Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan police, said Ricardo Ladringan, 45, and his wife, Maribel, 42, of Barangay Sta. Lucia, were standing on the side of the road next to their parked motorcycle when the accident happened around 6 a.m.
A Toyoto Innova, driven by Roberto San Jose, overtook a bus as it was negotiating the national highway when San Jose reportedly lost control of his vehicle.
The Innova swerved off the road and hit the Ladringans.
The couple was dragged by the moving vehicle before it finally fell into a roadside canal.
The victims died while being taken to the San Sebastian District Hospital.
