The management of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) is waiting for the rightful owner of $4,700 (about P239,000) in US dollar bills found at the Terminal 1 departure area on Thursday.

A white envelope containing 47 pieces of hundred-dollar bills was found on a table beside the cashier counter of a fast-food restaurant at the terminal.

The envelope was picked up by fast-food crew Emilyn Herrera and turned over by the restaurant supervisor to the lost-and-found section.

Airport police officer Leo Gonzales said a review of the closed-circuit television at the airport showed that the envelope was left by a female passenger wearing a black jacket.

The footage showed that she accidentally dropped the envelope while taking money from her shoulder bag to pay for her order at the fast-food counter.

Gonzales said that based on the footage, the envelope belonged to a Taiwan-bound passenger.—JEROME ANING
