LUCENA CITY –– A 60-year-old suspected bet collector of the illegal operation of the government-run Small Town Lottery (STL) or “bookies,” was arrested in Tayabas City in Quezon province on Thursday.

Laila Dator, a resident of Barangay Tongko, was nabbed while collecting money bet from undercover police around 8 p.m., Colonel Audie Madrideo, Quezon police director, said in a report.

Authorities confiscated several bet collection lists and bet money from the suspect.

Police said the suspect failed to produce identification cards issued by Pirouette Gaming Corp., the licensed STL operator in the province, which indicates they were engaged in “bookies” operation.

The suspect was charged with violation of Republic Act 9287 (An Act Increasing The Penalties for Illegal Numbers Game, Amending Certain Provision of Presidential Act 1602 and for Other Purposes)./lzb
