TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol – Police in Bohol are to start enforcing an order by President Rodrigo Duterte banning e-cigarettes and start seizing such devices being used in public places.
Col. Jonathan Cabal, Bohol police chief, issued a directive to all his men to seize e-cigarettes or vapes if these were seen being used in public.
Cabal said there would be no arrests, though, but ordered his men to monitor closely for violations of the President’s order.
A similar order was sent out by Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon, head of the Central Visayas police.
The health department had reported a case of lung injury being linked to e-cigarettes or vaping in the region.
Manufacturers.had been promoting e-cigarettes or vapes as a less dangerous alternative to traditional cigarettes but cases in the United States of vape-related diseases are on the rise.
