Motorcycle-tricycle crash kills woman, hurts 3 others in Lucena
LUCENA CITY –– A woman died, while three other motorcyclists were injured when a motorcycle crashed into a tricycle in Lucena City on Tuesday night.
A police report said Carmelita Capin, 54, was seated behind the motorcycle of the tricycle her husband Roderick was driving when a wayward motorcycle crashed into their vehicle at the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Market View at 9:50 p.m.
Upon impact, Carmelita fell to the ground and suffered serious head injuries. She died while being taken to the Quezon Medical Center (QMC).
The three motorcyclists, Mark Elgene Abella (driver); back-riders, Chernovil Batac, and Mike Angelo Alday, all suffered head and body injuries and were also rushed to QMC.
Roderick and his two passengers were not hurt.
Police said the three motorcycle riders, who were not wearing the mandatory crash helmets, were also under the influence of liquor.
