MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Ramon has so far affected almost 3,500 persons in Regions II and V, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) said Tuesday.
According to NDRRMC’s report, as of 6 a.m., 3,479 individuals coming from 838 families in 46 barangays were affected by the heavy rains brought by the typhoon.
Out of that number, a total of 1,059 persons coming from 290 families were seeking temporary shelter in 20 evacuation centers.
NDRRMC said 108 persons from 25 families, however, remained outside the evacuation centers.
The report said 16 residences in Region V were damaged by the typhoon, of which, seven are totally damaged while nine are partially damaged.
Meanwhile, the state weather bureau said Ramon has slowed down as it heads over Babuyan Islands where it is expected to make landfall between Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday evening.
