MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals (TCWS) were raised over 14 areas in the country as authorities expect Tropical Storm Ramon to make landfall over Northern Cagayan, the state weather bureau reported Monday afternoon.
As of 1 p.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Ramon was located 140 km east northeast of Tuguegarao City in Cagayan.
It has maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph, as it moves northwest at 15 kph.
Signal No. 2 was raised over Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, northern portion of Isabela (Sta. Maria, San Pablo, Maconacon, Cabagan, Sto. Tomas, Quezon, Delfin Albano, Tamauini, and Divilacan), Apayao, Kalinga, and Ilocos Norte.
Meanwhile, Signal No. 1 was raised over Batanes, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Mountain Province, Benguet, Ifugao, La Union, Norther Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, and Dinalungan), and the rest of Isabela.
Pagasa said Ramon is forecast to make landfall over Northern Cagayan between Monday night and Tuesday morning.
It may also further intensify before landfall, Pagasa said.
Moderate with occasional to frequent heavy rains are expected over Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands, the northern portion of Isabela, and Apayao on Monday night.
Likewise, light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains are also expected over Batanes, Kalinga, Abra, Ilocos Norte, and the rest of Isabela.
