PNPA director gets promoted to two-star general

MANILA, Philippines — The director of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) has been promoted to two-star general.

PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac announced on Thursday the promotion of Brig. Gen. Chiquito Malayo into the rank of major general.

Four other police officials with the previous rank of colonel were also promoted into brigadier general.

They are Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay, director of the PNP Legal Service; Brig. Gen Jonnel Estomo, director of the Anti-Kidnapping Group; Brig. Gen. Remus Canieso, deputy regional director for administration (DRDA) of the Police Regional Office 6; and Brig. Gen. Ildebrande Usana, DRDA of Police Regional Office 7.

PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa said more police officials are set to be promoted soon as more police officials are set to retire in the coming months.
