MANILA, Philippines — The five-month-old baby girl earlier reported missing in Taguig was returned to her family on Thursday, city police chief said.
Col. Alexander Santos, Taguig City police chief, told INQUIRER.net in a phone interview that the family’s hired nanny Kristine Joy Salik returned the baby girl to the latter’s parents at their home.
Santos said they will need to interview the nanny first to determine if a case of kidnapping is valid against Salik.
Salik said she did not kidnap the baby, noting that she did not return the baby immediately because of the viral post. The victim’s father, however, said the reason was hard to believe.
“Ang sinabe kasi ng yaya na si Kristine is hindi daw po kidnapping. Pumunta lang daw po ng mall at nagulat na viral na po sya social media at natakot na po sya umuwi,” the father told INQUIRER.net in a text message.
(Kristine said it was not a case of kidnapping. She said she just went to the mall with our baby and was surprised that the incident went viral on social media so she hesitated to return our baby.)
“Pero para po sa’min isa pong walang kwentang dahilan para sabihin na hindi po sya kidnapping,” he added.
(But for us, this is a worthless reason for her to say that it was not kidnapping.)
According to the family, the baby was last seen with Salik, 34, inside their home on Wednesday afternoon.
The baby’s father said he woke up and noticed that both the baby and Salik were missing.
