Almost 700 passengers stranded in Bicol ports due to Tropical Storm Ramon

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines — Some 627 passengers and 122 trucks and cars were stranded on Thursday morning in the ports of Albay, Sorsogon and Catanduanes as storm signal number 2 remained hoisted over five Bicol provinces due to Tropical Storm Ramon, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) report said most of the stranded passengers were in the ports of Tabaco City in Albay (272 passengers), Matnog in Sorsogon (254), Pioduran in Albay (53), Pilar, Sorsogon (34) and Catanduanes (11).

Classes in all levels in both private and public schools remained suspended in Albay, Sorsogon, and Catanduanes according to Claudio Yucot, OCD regional director.

As of Thursday morning, storm signal two was raised in Catanduanes while signal one is hoisted over the provinces of Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay and Sorsogon.
