BI deporting over 300 illegal Chinese workers

MANILA, Philippines – More than 300 Chinese nationals illegally working in the Philippines will be deported on Thursday, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said.

The bureau said the Chinese nationals are among the 512 illegal foreign workers who were arrested in Parañaque City in October.

The foreign workers were reportedly involved in an offshore investment scam.

21 minors who were also “found” during the operation and will also be deported, BI added.

National Capital Region Police Office chief Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar earlier said that the raid was conducted following information that the foreign employees have no working permit.

Out of the 512 foreign nationals arrested, 418 are Chinese, 44 are from Myanmar, 26 are Malaysians, 19 are Vietnamese, four are Taiwanese and one is Indonesian. /gsg
