MANILA, Philippines — An alleged Italian pedophile accused of preying on Filipino minors in Mindanao during his frequent visits to the country was arrested recently, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Tuesday.
Lorenzo Marchesi, 57, was about to leave the country when he was intercepted at the Davao International Airport on Nov. 8.
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente issued a mission order against Marchesi upon knowledge of the latter’s immoral activities, which make him an undesirable alien.
According to the BI, Marchesi is a respondent in several criminal complaints ranging from violation of the expanded antitrafficking act, cybercrime law and antichild abuse act.
He was reportedly engaging minors in sexual acts in exchange for money, the BI added. —TINA G. SANTOS
