MANILA, Philippines— Neophyte Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa gave Vice President Leni Robredo an unsolicited advice on Tuesday: Do your job first before asking for an additional budget.
Robredo was quoted over the weekend as saying that the P15 million budget of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD) was not enough.
The Vice President is now leading the government’s war on drugs after accepting her new post as co-chairperson of ICAD.

Sought for comment over ABS-CBN News Channel, Dela Rosa said: “Mahirap naman yung kapapasok mo pa lang, funds na kaagad ang hinahanap mo.”
(It’s not good that you just started with your job and you’re already asking for funds)
“Trabaho muna. You make do of what resources you have with you…” he said, explaining that any additional funding request would have wait for another budget season for approval.
“Kung ano meron dyan, gamitin mo na. Huwag ka na munang maghanap ng kung ano-ano pang iba pondo dyan,” the senator added.
(Make do with whatever you have there. Don’t ask for other funds)
Dela Rosa previously headed the government’s war on drugs when he was still at the helm of the Philippine National Police. /muf
