MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment lauded fastfood outlets and restaurants for hiring elderly and differently abled workers as shown by various social media sites.
But Assistant Labor Secretary Benjo Benavidez reminded companies that such workers should also be given wages and benefits in accordance with the law.
Citing the requirements of Republic Act No. 10911, or the anti-age discrimination law, Benavidez noted that benefits, such as tax incentives, are also available. —Tina G. Santos
