Indian nat’l, cohort nabbed for drug peddling, illegal guns in QC

MANILA, Philippines — An Indian man and his accomplice were arrested for possession of P122,400 worth of shabu (crystal meth) and illegal firearms in Quezon City on Tuesday night, police said Wednesday.

Operatives of Eastwood police station drug enforcement unit and Batasan police station drug enforcement unit conducted a buy-bust operation against Gurpreet Singh, 40 and Jojo Devera, 32, along Dalton Street, Barangay Holy Spirit.

Aside from the meth, seized were two .38 caliber firearms without serial numbers, live ammunition, and one digital weighing scale.

Maj. Melchor Rosales, station commander of Eastwood police, said the suspects did not have a permit or license to carry firearms.

Suspects were brought to Eastwood police station for documentation and later to Quirino Medical Center for physical examination.

Pieces of evidence were submitted to Quezon City Police District Crime Laboratory while police will file appropriate charges against suspects. /je
