4 Boracay cops made to do exercises for using phones while on duty
MANILA, Philippines — Four police officers were punished for using cellphones while on duty in Boracay Island on Monday, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas said Wednesday.
PRO-Western Visayas spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong said the four police officers, whose names were withheld, were made to do exercises after being caught using cellphones.
“They were given exercises and referred back to Aklan Provincial Police Office for investigation,” Malong told INQUIRER.net in a phone interview.
Asked if the police officers were relieved, Malong said they have yet to receive the relief order on the erring police officers.
Under their guidelines, Malong said police officers are “not allowed to use their cellular phones and gadgets while performing their duty.”
It includes but not limited to the use of phones for games, social media, and other similar applications, Malong said.
