LUCENA CITY – A drunk 68-year-old widower was hacked and killed by a similarly intoxicated farmer in Atimonan town in Quezon province on Saturday night, police said Sunday.

Atimonan police reported that Salvador de Pedro, 58, arrived home drunk and was told by his wife, Arlinda, that Helario Amador was in the vicinity of their house in Barangay (village) Inalig around 10:20 p.m.

De Pedro searched for Amador and found him lying on the ground. After a heated argument, De Pedro ran towards the house, grabbed a bolo and hacked Amador several times.

The suspect escaped after the incident.

The wife of the suspect sought help from their neighbors and brought the victim to Doña Martha Memorial District Hospital at the town center but he died along the way.

The suspect is the subject of a manhunt operation by local policemen. /je
