Another quake shakes rattled Cotabato town

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.2 earthquake hit Tulunan, North Cotabato on Friday morning, the same town hit by three strong quakes in two weeks, state seismologists said.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake’s epicenter was traced 25 kilometers northeast of Tulunan town at 7:18 a.m.

Phivolcs said the temblor was recorded at Intensity II in Kidapawan City and Intensity I in Malungon, Sarangani.

No significant damage is expected, Philvocs said.

A powerful 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit Tulunan and parts of Mindanao on Thursday, after a magnitude 6.6 quake hit the same area Tuesday and 15 days after it was also rocked by a 6.3-magnitude earthquake./gsg
