Anduyan named Northern Mindanao police chief

MANILA, Philippines – Erstwhile National Capital Region Police Office – Northern Police District chief Brig. Gen. Rolando Anduyan replaced Brig. Gen. Rafael Santiago as chief of the Police Regional Office 10 (Northern Mindanao) effective Tuesday, Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa,  Philippine National Police (PNP) officer-in-charge announced.

Gamboa earlier ordered the relief of Santiago due to his alleged failure to turn over logistics, including firearms, when he left his post as director of the Zambales police in 2012.

Anduyan is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Bigkis Lahi” Class of 1990.

Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Genaro Evangelista Ylagan, meanwhile, was designated acting NPD director, Gamboa said in a statement Thursday.

Gamboa also assigned Col. Danilo Pepino Macerin as acting chief of the regional staff of the NCRPO.

“This move sustains our campaign to reform the entire organization, as well as our drive against illegal drugs, criminality, and lawless violence,” Gamboa said.

He added that the recent reorganization in the PNP is part of the reforms he wants to implement as OIC of the national police force. /gsg
