Explosives found in Cotabato banana plantation

KIDAPAWAN CITY — Government troops recovered explosive devices and other war materiel in Barangay Amabel, Magpet in Cotabato on Saturday.

The Philippine Army’s 72nd Infantry Battalion reported that 10 60-mm high explosive devices and accessories were unearthed from a banana plantation owned by a certain Vincent Cantillas.

The explosives were placed inside a pail which was buried into sloping ground.

Aside from the explosives, authorities also recovered 20 caliber .30 ammunitions, black cord wire, one steel improvised tube, and one base plate.

The recovered war materiel were brought to the police’s explosive and ordnance division team for further investigation and proper disposal./je
