Man who attacked motorist, cop gunned down in Antipolo City
SAN PEDRO CITY — A man who allegedly attacked a truck driver and a police officer was shot and killed by the police in Antipolo City in Rizal province.
A report from the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon police office on Sunday said investigators have yet to identify him.
According to the police report, the man, out of nowhere, appeared on the road in Barangay San Jose around 5 p.m. Saturday and began to throw rocks at a passing truck driven by Roy Bacera.
City police Staff Sgts. Tony Tayud and Messiah Golla responded to the scene and tried to pacify the man, but they too were hit by rocks.
The police report said the man then drew out a knife and tried to attack Golla, prompting the police to shoot him first in the leg.
But the police claimed the attacker continued to advance towards them with a knife, which forced Golla to fire another shot. The man died while being taken to a hospital. /je
