Ranking DILG exec in Eastern Visayas found dead inside his office

TACLOBAN CITY—The assistant regional director of the Department of Interior and Local Government in Eastern Visayas (DILG) was found dead inside his office past noon on Thursday, Oct. 24.

Investigators were still tight-lipped about Valente Bajet’s death but said there were no signs of foul play.

Myles Colasito, DILG regional information officer, said the department will issue a statement on Bajet’s death after his wife arrives from Manila.

Bajet was the DILG provincial director for Northern Samar from 2012 until his appointment as assistant regional director in January this year.

Bajet last appeared in public last Wednesday, October 23, when he represented DILG Regional Director Artemio Caneja in a seminar about handling missing and dead persons in time of calamities.
