LRT-1 extends operating hours for holiday season

MANILA, Philippines — The Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) will implement an extended train service schedule for the holiday season to accommodate the expected influx of passengers.

The Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) on Thursday announced that starting Oct. 25 until Dec. 31, the last trip from Baclaran station will be leaving at 10 p.m., while the last train from Roosevelt station will leave at 10:15 p.m. during weekdays.

On weekends, the last train will leave Baclaran and Roosevelt stations at 9:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m., respectively.

“We are extending the LRT-1 operating hours to accommodate the influx of passengers during the holiday rush,” LRMC Chief Operating Officer Enrico Benipayo said in a statement.

The LRMC said that no changes will be implemented on the first trip for both northbound and southbound trips, which start at 4:30 a.m. on weekdays and weekends.

On Christmas Eve (Dec. 24), the LRT-1 operations will start from 4:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on both ways, while it will start from 4:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both ways for New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31), the LRMC said.

It added that the train line will be open on Christmas Day (Dec. 25) and New Year’s Day (Jan. 1). /je
