One week after quake: Magnitude 4.3 aftershock jolts parts of Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines — Aftershocks are continuously recorded one week after the magnitude 6.3 quake that hit North Cotabato and nearby areas, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said a magnitude 4.3 quake was recorded at 6:22 p.m. on Wednesday, with the epicenter located 28 kilometers southeast of Tulunan town in North Cotabato.
The quake which was of tectonic origin had a depth of one kilometer.
Phivolcs said Intensity II was recorded in Kidapawan City and Koronadal City, while Intensity I was recorded in Tupi town in South Cotabato.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said a total of 797 aftershocks have been recorded as of Oct. 23, 12 a.m.
The aftershocks ranged from magnitude 1.5 to 5.5.
