American national drowns off Eastern Samar

ORMOC CITY –– The body of a 52-year-old American national was found floating in the sea off Barangay Omawas, Maydolong town, Eastern Samar at 3:15 p.m. Monday.

Scott West, a retired welder and a native of Hayward California, USA, reportedly went surfing before he drowned.

Police Major Aldo Mendiola, chief of the Maydolong Police Station, said people in the area tried but failed to rescue West.

West was rushed to the hospital in Borongan City but the attending physician declared him dead on arrival.
