TD ‘Perla’ may weaken into LPA — PagasaMANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression “Perla” may weaken into a low pressure area over the weekend, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported Wednesday, Oct. 16.

The state weather bureau said Perla was spotted 1,005 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City in Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 55 kph.

It continues to move west northwest at a speed of 25 kph.

While the storm may weaken into an LPA, moderate to heavy rains are still expected over Batanes and Cagayan provinces, Pagasa said.

Pagasa said the northeasterly surface windflower continues to prevail in Luzon while the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) persists in the Mindanao region.

The state weather bureau also raised a gale warning over Batanes, Cagayan, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan, with wave height ranging from 2.8 to 4.5 meters./TSB
