MANILA, Philippines — A public school teacher and member of the ACT Teachers party-list group survived an ambush in front of a school in Bukidnon on Tuesday.
The Valencia City police station identified the victim as Zhaydee Cabanyelles, 32.
Cabanyelles’ husband Ramil told police that they were in front of Dalit Elementary School where the victim works when four armed men shot them.
Ramil managed to take cover while Zhaydee was wounded and later rushed to hospital where she was last listed in stable condition.
The assailants fled after the attack.
Further investigation and pursuit operations against the suspects are ongoing. /gsg
