Gordon: Senate panel report on ‘ninja cops’ inquiry to be submitted next week
MANILA, Philippines — A committee report on the Senate investigation into the alleged “ninja cops” controversy may be submitted next week, Senator Richard Gordon said Saturday.
“Tapos na ako, ginagawa na namin yung report [I’m done, we are now doing the report], as we speak,” Gordon, chairman of the Senate justice and human rights committee who leads the hearing, said during the “In Focus” forum held in Quezon City.
“Kasi sa dami ng hearing namin, titignan namin kung saan kami nagkulang, saan kami sumobra [Because we have conducted a lot of hearing, we will look into where we lacked and where we had too much],” he further said.

Gordon added that he, Senator Frank Drilon and Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson agreed to suspend the Senate inquiry in the meantime.
“Because may lalabas pa eh. Yung report ng Korean, lalabas ‘yun. Kausapin natin, baka magturo ‘yun eh. Tapos yung mga kotse, pag nakuha natin yung listahan, it will just reinforce the case,” the senator said.
(Because still a lot will come out. The report of the Korean, that also will come out. We will talk to him maybe he’ll implicate a few others. Then the cars, when we get the list, it will just reinforce the case.)
The Korean national he was referring to was Johnson Lee, a Korean high-profile drug trafficker, who was arrested during a 2013 anti-drug operation conducted by officers of the Pampanga Provincial Police Office.
The said police office was then headed by Gen. Oscar Albayalde, who is currently the Philippine National Police chief.
Meanwhile, the cars Gordon was referring to were sports utility vehicles allegedly acquired by the policemen involved in the operation.
Gordon also bared that the committee report will include to recommend the filing of charges against Albayalde. /jpv
