72-year-old woman hurt after being hit by train in Manila

MANILA, Philippines — A 72-year-old woman was sent to the hospital after a Philippine National Railways (PNR) train hit her in Manila on Friday afternoon.

An incident report from PNR spokesperson Jo Geronimo identified the victim as Delia Cercado, a resident of Caloocan City.

The PNR said Cercado was crossing the railroad tracks along Zobel Roxas St. near the Vito Cruz PNR station when she was sideswiped by a northbound train going to Manila at 1:55 p.m.

A train marshall went to the Vito Cruz police station to coordinate and ask assistance from an ambulance.

The Sta. Ana police said Cercado sustained injuries in the head, arms and legs

Police said the victim was rushed to the Makati Medical Hospital at 2:20 p.m. for medical treatment.

The Manila Police District Traffic Enforcement Unit is conducting further investigation of the incident. /muf
