MANILA, Philippines — The Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) has adjusted its schedule for free rides for students following shortened operations.
In an advisory on Thursday, the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) said that since Oct. 8, students could only avail themselves of free rides from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Last June, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) offered free train rides (LRT-2, LRT-1, MRT-3) to students from 4:30 a.m. to 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 4:40 p.m everyday.

However, the LRT-2 had to adjust its operating schedule to make way for repairs and parts replacement after a fire damaged a portion of the train line last week.

It has been implementing partial operations from Cubao station to Recto and back as Santolan, Katipunan and Anonas stations remain inoperable due to the damage sustained by the fire.

The LRT-2 is expected to resume full operations in nine months.
