Baby sharks caught and sold en masse in Malaysia

MIRI, Malaysia — Activists are concerned about the basket-loads of baby sharks available for sale at the fish market here.

Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) members in Miri posted pictures of baby sharks on their chat groups that were taken by concerned shoppers at the Miri Fish Market.

The baby sharks looked freshly caught while another picture showed them frozen in ice.

An MNS member has questioned if the sales of sharks are allowed by the authorities as most of them are endangered.
