Cagayan police intelligence chief sacked over “ninja cops” issue

TUGUEGARAO CITY — The intelligence chief of the Cagayan regional police has been relieved following allegations that he was a “ninja cop,” police said on Friday.

Police Major Bienvenido Reydado was appointed intelligence chief on July 18 and has contributed to the regional police’s anti-drug operations, according to Police Captain Sharon Mallillin, Cagayan police spokesperson.

In a statement, Reydado said he was falsely implicated in cases involving policemen who sold shabu (crystal meth) seized in police operations.

He served as Pampanga provincial director of the Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, and was one of the policemen charged in 2014 for recycling drugs confiscated from a Chinese drug lord in a drug bust. Reydado said the charges were dismissed.

Reydado was transferred to the Provincial 1st Maneuver Platoon of the Cagayan Provincial Mobile Force Company.

“His relief would allow Reydado to clear his name,” Mallilli said. Villamor Visaya Jr. /lzb
